Alive Network's Office Christmas Party Playlist!
& Xmas Party Entertainment Ideas.
We know Mistletoe and Wine by Sir Cliff Richard can get a little dreary year after year, and so as the entertainment specialists we are, we’ve put our heads together and fashioned the ultimate Christmas party playlist that not only guarantees you a warm festive feeling but will also have you loosening your tie and onto the dance floor in no time!
Ah December! The month of dreaded Secret Santa and yes, the work’s Christmas party!
With the festive season upon us, it’s time for office workers across the globe to put down their pens and turn their attention to creating a winning survival strategy for this year’s do.
In an attempt to make things that little bit easier, we’ve devised a plan to help you boycott the usual “Christmas playlist” which has been proudly provided by Debra from accounts since 2004.
Listen to the playlist and check out our reasons behind some of the chosen songs below...
Richard Hearn, Artist Management & Development:
Let It Snow by Frank Sinatra-
This track reminds me of log fires, family, Christmas trees, reindeer, sledges n all! It fills me with Christmas feelings and they feel how Christmas should be- warm, happy and loved- ha!
Do They Know It’s Christmas Time by Band Aid-
This song reminds me of Primary School and singing it in the dinner queue!
Tim Laws, Web Monkey:
Tightrope by Janelle Monae-
So, I'm a terrible dancer and I hate nothing more than an event which involves me, at some point, shuffling about awkwardly to music whilst looking for the exits. That said, Janelle Monae's Tightrope will usually get me moving my lumpen body in a way that most closely resembles dance moves...which is probably more of a reason not to add it to a Christmas playlist (or at least wait until I go home!)
Gemma-Jane, Entertainment Coordinator:
I Gotta Feeling by the Black Eyed Peas-
The perfect feel good song and very danceable! It got played during the fireworks on NYE in the Alps so I always get great memories when I hear it.
Fairytale Of New York by The Pogues-
A brilliant Christmas song and I love trying out my gruff Irish accent when I sing along.
Mr Brightside by The Killers-
There's nothing better than jumping around, letting your hair down and singing your heart out at the end of the night.
All I Want For Christmas Is You by Mariah Carey-
You can't beat a bit of Mariah at Christmas, plus I always think (!!) I can sing this after a few glasses of bubbly!
Dave Bevan, Managing Director:
Winter Wonderland by Dean Martin (or anything else from the Rat Pack Christmas album)-
It's tradition and the old songs are the best!
Graham Woodcock, Entertainment Coordinator:
I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday by Wizzard-
Whether you are trimming the tree or heading out to a Christmas party, this is the perfect soundtrack to get you in the festive spirit.
Tom Bishop, Alive HQ Studio Engineer:
54 46 Was My Number by Toots & The Maytals-
NO REASON NEEDED!
Laura Ellement, Artist Liaison:
Baby It's Cold Outside by She & Him-
Nobody can resist a twee Christmas cover!
Anything Could Happen by Ellie Goulding-
This is one of my favourite tracks from 2012. Hooked!
Bring Me Sunshine by The Jive Aces-
Another favourite release from this year. It's cheery, the video is great and The Jive Aces are available to book from Alive Network ;)
Nick Taylor, Entertainment Coordinator:
This Charming Man by The Smiths-
One tune that is sure to have me shuffling my feet like an octogenarian towards the dance floor! It's miserable and whiny but awesome, it drags me up every time!
The Blizzard by Camera Obscura-
A cover of an old Jim Reeves song that warms the cockles of my Christmas pudding outfit!
Superstition by Stevie Wonder-
Another bonafide party tune has to be Superstition. The opening bars of drums hook me in every time.
Clare Kimble, Entertainment Coordinator:
Band On The Run by Foo Fighters-
...because this cover is awesome and Dave Grohl is lush!
