Andrew and Jennifer Quinn's Perfect Wedding
& Perfect Wedding Entertainment.
Andrew and Jennifer Quinn got married at The Priory Church in Bolton Abbey, followed by a wedding reception at The Devonshire Arms Country House Hotel & Spa in Skipton, North Yorkshire. They booked lively 4 piece rock and pop wedding band Munch to provide the evening's entertainment. Jennifer reveals what made their big day special in their exclusive wedding blog here at Alive Network.
All in all, Munch were fantastic and the feedback we've had from our guests has been just as glowing. We wouldn't hesitate to book Munch again, we just need to think of an excuse to hire them!
Where did your wedding take place, why did you choose that venue, and how big was your wedding party?
Our wedding ceremony took place at The Priory Church, Bolton Abbey, in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales. We chose the venue as it's in a stunning location on the river Wharfe, and is a favourite spot of ours to go for a walk.
The wedding reception followed at The Devonshire Arms Country House Hotel & Spa in Skipton, not far from the church.
We chose both the church and the hotel as they're beautiful venues, renowned for quality and service, and they were the perfect size and location for our wedding party of 70 guests.
Did you have a theme for your wedding, and what sort of look and feel did you want to create?
Our theme was understated elegance, so nothing over the top in terms of decoration or frills. We chose everything for our guests to enjoy which reflected our tastes; so particular wines and local Yorkshire blue cheeses, and a good hearty wedding breakfast meal.
My dress was a plain silk gown made by a very talented designer in London called Ritva Westenius, and finished off by Vivienne at her boutique in Boston Spa.
My dress had a vintage, art deco look so we decided to follow this and kept the colours fairly neutral with cream and antique pink roses for the flowers with winter viburnum berries to give a wintery feel.
The heavy snowfall in the proceeding week meant we were lucky enough to have over a foot of snow for the photos, which really made it a winter wonderland.
Please tell us about the running order and format of your day, including details of any live music or entertainment
We got married at 2.00 pm, and had a string quartet playing modern pieces for a couple of hours during our drinks reception, which was very enjoyable.
We then had the speeches prior to the wedding breakfast, to allow those giving speeches the opportunity to enjoy their food!
After the wedding breakfast, the band arrived and started setting up, ready for the evening.
We hired Munch, who were fantastic. They talked over the options for our evening entertainment and delivered a slick, professional service.
Munch are a very friendly, easy going group who played a real mixture of old and newer songs which kept the dance floor full all night.
I put a special request in beforehand for a particular, slightly obscure song as a surprise for my new husband, which they played at the very end of the night which rounded the evening off perfectly.

How big an impact did live entertainment have on your wedding day and would you recommend it to others?
The band Munch and the string quartet made a real difference to our day and ensured all our guests had an enjoyable evening. We would recommend the band and quartet without hesitation.
What were your favourite moments of the day?
Our favourite moments of the day besides the wedding ceremony itself, were being able to celebrate with friends and family, the wonderful church and reception venue setting, and the bonus of the snow and clear blue skies for the photographs.
What pearls of wisdom or words of advice would you extend to future brides and grooms who are planning their perfect wedding?
I would say to shop around online for the little items to ensure you get a fair price for things. Don't be suckered into thinking you need to have all the trimmings if it's not your style.
Take some time to think about what you and the groom enjoy together and as individuals, and you can come up with some creative little touches which will make the day specific to you both, rather than the same old wedding stuff as everyone else.
Finally, enjoy every second of the day as it whizzes by in the blink of an eye!
