We Need The Best Wedding Bands Scotland Has To Offer
Alive Network are looking for the best wedding bands Scotland has to offer. If you think you have what it takes read on to see what we're looking for and tips on getting accepted on our agency.
Are you the best wedding bands Scotland has to offer? Have you experience performing for guests at wedding receptions, private parties and other functions? Do you have a playlist that gets everyone up and dancing, from youngest nephew to grandma? Then we want to hear from you!
Alive Network are the biggest live entertainment agency in the UK, and every day, thousands of people search our website for the perfect live band for their special day. And every day, we turn disappointed brides away because our Northern and Scottish based bands are fully booked on the dates they want.
So, there are well-paid, genuine gigs in Scotland, just waiting for the right band. However, we're fussy. We won't just take any old wedding bands onto our books. Here's a checklist for what we look for in an Alive Network wedding band:
1. Commitment and enthusiasm
It may sound trite, but our most successful bands really love what they do, and it shows in every performance. Wedding guests want to have a great time, so you need to lead by example. And, of course, every bride wants to be certain that you're 100% reliable and will be professional too.
Take a look at one of our top wedding and function bands, Happy Hour, and you'll see just from their photos that they live up to their name - energetic, enthusiastic and obviously enjoying themselves!
2. A comprehensive set list
Wedding guests are usually a mixed bunch, who enjoy a wide range of music, so our top wedding bands aim to provide as much diversity as possible.
Rock and pop function band The Hot Shots offer an eclectic mix of modern and classic rock and pop covers from Kings Of Leon, Chuck Berry, Stereophonics, The Beatles, Queen, The Kooks and many more. Covering songs from these bands are perfect for weddings.
3. Four piece or five piece lineup
Our most successful wedding bands are all four or five piece bands, and the more instruments each band member can play, the better. The usual line-up is lead guitar, bass guitar, (who usually sing as well) drums, and lead vocalist, who usually also plays guitar or keyboards. This lineup has several advantages; it offers the most flexibility, looks good on stage and can fit in a touring Transit van!
And at the risk of being sexist, you'll ideally be an all male lineup - it sells better, as the six-figure annual earnings of our top band Hipster prove.
4. Look good, sound great
You need to look good for weddings, so if you have a strong visual look, this can help, especially in promo videos and photo shoots. Live Wires wear simple but stylish black outfits for a cool, cohesive look. Of course, you need to sound good too, so you'll need the best instruments and PA you can afford, and be able to adjust your sound for a small wedding marquee right up to a large banqueting hall.
For an example of tight harmonies and a clean, fresh sound, take a listen to the Munch sound samples on their Profile.
5. You're based in Scotland!

Yes, this may seem obvious, but we are looking for Scottish bands, who live in Scotland and are prepared to travel in Scotland. So, you'll also need transport that's reliable, and a good sat nav system!
