5 Great Reasons to Book a Barn Dance Band for Your Wedding Or Party
Great Barn Dance Bands For Hire!
There's something infectious about an American barn dance that just makes you want to get up and dance, preferably in your best blue jeans and cowboy boots! Barn dancing is about having fun and joining in, and the music is terrific too. So, here are 5 great reasons to book a barn dance band for your next event.
1. No experience (or talent) necessary
Anyone can enjoy an American style barn dance or hoedown, whether they think they can dance or know they can't! A 'caller' will teach everyone the dance moves in a few minutes before the band strike up and you're let loose. The caller will continue to give instructions throughout the dance too, so you always know what's coming next.
2. People love dressing up!
Perhaps it's because of all those John Wayne films we watched as kids, but people really love releasing their inner cowboy or cowgirl! One of the best parts of a Western themed evening is that most people already own a key part of their costume - blue jeans. And you’ll be amazed how many of your friends also own a checked shirt, gingham skirt or even a Stetson hat. Geoff Berrow of The American Barn Dance Band experienced this first hand;
I used to play in a ceilidh band and was surprised at how many people decked the halls with gingham and came in western gear. There was clearly an appetite for a barn dance band playing something other than Irish and Scottish music!
3. Terrific toe-tapping music
Forget those bland commercial country and western ballads, barn dance music is fun, fast and totally infectious! The American Barn Dance Band play Americana, Old Time music based on American folk traditions, and bluegrass. Bluegrass is the music of the southern states of America, and if you think your feet are moving fast, just watch the banjo player's fingers fly! When you want a sit-down and a cool drink (and trust us, you'll need one), your hoedown band can perform soulful, close harmony songs until everyone has their breath back again.
4. Partner swapping is encouraged!
And before you get too excited, that's dancing partners. Barn dances are perfect for breaking the ice between guests who may not know each other, and for including all ages too. Younger guests can take the dances flat out, older guests can take things a little slower, and kids just love being part of a real 'grown up' dance regardless. Most hoedown dances can involve changing partners each 'round' of the dance, so guests get to dance with almost every other guest at some stage.
5. Make it a Wild West evening to remember!
Go the whole hog and turn your venue into a spaghetti Western fan's dream! Themed Parties and weddings can provide everything you need for a rootin', tootin' good time, including a rodeo bull ride, shooting simulators, backdrops, props, and even a Wild West casino complete with showgirls if you wish! Booking your American barn dance band is easy - just check out the band Profiles here at Alive Network, listen to some demo tracks, watch their videos, and pick the one that takes your fancy. Yee-hah!
