Party Band Starlight's First Alive Network Booking!

Last week I had a call from Gemma, one of Alive Network's Senior Entertainment Co-ordinators: just a few weeks after joining the agency we had our first confirmed gig…amazing!

It was a last minute wedding just outside of London. Caroline and Andrew, the lovely couple who booked us, had loved our demos and decided they wanted Starlight to play at their wedding reception. Despite being a last minute booking, the amazing support we had from Gemma had made running the whole thing very smooth, and the communication among all the parts involved very easy. Even the smallest details were taken care of to ensure everything was perfect on the big day!

On the Saturday we reached the venue shortly after lunch for an early set-up, which allowed us to chill out, make the most of the fantastic weather and have some fun together before the gig. Before we knew it, it was stage time.

Andrew and Caroline had picked a lovely song as their first dance: “All Of Me” by John Legend, one of my favourite songs at the moment. To quote the groom, we played it “above and beyond their expectations” which was great to hear!

What followed was an extremely fun gig where the audience enthusiasm has brought us to play an impromptu rendition of “500 Miles” sung by Gareth, our drummer (Scottish!) and, encore after encore, 3 extra songs at the end of our last set.

At the end of the night we were all a little tired but left the venue still buzzing. Our first gig with Alive had been memorable, we now hope many more will follow!
