A Day In The Life Of Limelight
...A Jazz Band For Hire.
Sophisticated jazz and swing band, Limelight, hosted an Events Industry Party to celebrate their recent rebranding launch on Wednesday 6th April 2011 at the St Pancras Grand Champagne and Oyster Bar in London. Limelight specialise in performing jazz and swing classics, with a contempory twist. Lead singer, Sue Appleby, talks us through the event in her photo and video diary.
To celebrate our recent rebranding we hosted an Events Industry Party held at the St Pancras Grand Champagne & Oyster Bar in London, featuring our selection of line-ups.
The event took three months to organise, and it felt like planning a wedding! With the venue booked, musicians and singers ready, food and drink ordered, and a full guest list, we arrived at the St Pancras Grand at 3.00 pm.
The next three hours were a near-military operation as we set up the instruments, lights, PA, and the all-important recording and video equipment, as we were filming the whole evening.
We were then ready to sound check. The fortunate, unsuspecting diners in the restaurant listened to a few numbers as microphones, monitors and mixes were checked and rechecked.
Demo CDs were laid out; a bowl of limes carefully prepared for guests business cards.
It was time to head to our dressing room – cleverly disguised as the St Pancras Grand’s on-site meeting room.
Almost as important as getting the equipment ready is getting the make-up just right! And for the boys? Black suits and our trademark green ties.
Before long, guests arrived for three hours of meeting, greeting and entertainment. It was time for us to step into the Limelight!
The day and evening ran like clockwork – thank goodness for forward planning and for the trusty black clipboard! A great time was had by all and lots of interest ensued from guests and diners alike.
We hope you enjoy our collection of jazz classics with a contemporary twist. Limelight…the perfect accompaniment.
