Marian C booked Blues Brothers Live for their event
IT was an evening where you put on your bowler hat and dark glasses and get ready to party with this fabulous iconic tribute show that gets everybody dancing and shaking their tail feathers to the music of another era. Two black-suited men from Chicago - via Leeds - adopt American accents and give it all they have got in a high-energy production that rejuvenates past classics like Midnight Hour, Rolling down the River and Rawhide. And did the audience enjoy it? You bet they did as they joined in the fun to sing Flip, Flop Fly and dance the night away to the music of a brilliant seven piece band which gave the rhythm and blues classics a powerful resurgence of life. Stars of the show, Elwood and Jake, alias Gareth Davey and Chris Hindle, are quite simply superb as, behaving like overgrown schoolboys, they sing, dance and create an atmosphere of over-the-top energy that is a million miles away from the 1980s movie that inspired this long running cult show. Female duo The Soul Sisters add a little glamour to the proceedings and the tremendous three piece horn section send the volume into the stratosphere that nearly took the Pavilion roof off. Share article The production is currently on a national tour and will hopefully return to Dorset again soon so brush up your dancing shoes for when Elwood and Jake come back into town. MARION COX
