We found them online, then went to see them perform in Nottingham - we can honestly say their website does not do them justice; they are incredible musicians. We knew they would be perfect for our big day. Elliott was really friendly and easy to deal with, and we felt he understood exactly the tone we wanted to set - summer sun/cocktails/chilled vibe for our drinks reception and something more upbeat for later in the evening. ““You were really great and everyone loved your music! For late night lindy we wanted a band to play a variety of tempos ranging between 130 and 180 bpm with the majority of the set staying around the 130-160 mark. We also wanted the odd one or two songs to be played at the higher end of the tempo spectrum, somewhere between 180 and 230 bpm. Ideally we didn’t want each performance to exceed the 4 minute duration because most of our crew are still building up their stamina. Swing Gitan met all our requirements and made an enormous contribution to a fantastic night. We can’t wait to get them back again.””

“'Swing Gitan UK joined the Nottingham Jazz Orchestra on the bill of the Christmas Jazz Fest last weekend. Having seen Swing Gitan a number of times, I have always been massively impressed with the musical and technical ability of all members of the band. Their music would sound at home on the streets or riverbank walkways of Paris, but we were lucky enough for them to join us for a unique lineup of bands. Within just a few bars of their first number, (insert what you played first here, I can't remember, sorry lol), it is clear to all that Elliott Lewis and Wayne Jefferies, who take the positions as guitarists within the band, are masters of their instruments and faithfully re-create the music of Django Reinhardt, but adding their own style to numbers such as Minor Swing, Blue Bossa, and Undecided. Joined by bassist Rob Coates and James Tolhurst completing the lineup, their enthusiasm is infectious and the music always driving. If you ever get the chance to catch these guys doing a set, you will not be disappointed!'”

Not only are they accomplished and exceptional musicians but they bring a warmth and sincerity that is needed within an event. We had no idea what to expect and were hugely delighted by their ability to quickly gauge the style of the party and were more than accommodating in their repertoire, even playing for members of the party to sing with them. “We came across Swing Gitan at the Nottingham Contemporary and were both taken by their energetic and uplifting sound delivered in a skilled and playful fashion. Since then we have had the pleasure of seeing quite a few of their gigs and never been disappointed and so when we were considering who to book for our wedding last august the choice was easy. We wanted music for music lovers that people could also dance to and were no disappointed. The whole process of booking the band and arranging the specifics as well as asking them to learn the Waltz that we intended to dance to was just really straight forward and pleasurable which was certainly helped by Elliott’s easygoing ways and quiet confidence that this would turn out the way we had hoped. We feel very lucky and blessed to have had the good fortune together such good people for our wedding occasion and the presence of Swing Gitan was a large part of that. Indeed, it was a testament to the success of the band that people of all backgrounds and ages loved their performances and demonstrated this through dancing, shouting and cheering throughout the night. Needless to say, we would highly recommend this band to anyone seeking a great sounding and quirky gypsy jazz band!”

“I booked Swing Gitan to provide a musical accompaniment for a garden party based on a recommendation from my daughter who had heard them previously in Nottingham. They performed their brand of jazz in a serious, professional and skilled manner and they met my requirements for the event exactly. Their jazz music is not loud and raucous, but smooth and gentle - they were enjoyed and appreciated by all the partygoers (age range from 3-85!). The band members reflect their music. They are approachable, friendly, flexible in their approach and are clearly dedicated to their genre. The party and music took place outdoors, but they would have had the same effect and outcome had we needed to move indoors. I am a completely satisfied client, and would gladly use Swing Gitan again myself and/or recommend the group to anyone else.”

“We booked Swing Gitan for our wedding on 7 September. We had seen them a couple of times around Nottingham and really liked their style and music. On the day itself, they played for about 2 hours with a short break in the middle. We really loved their music and it fit in well with our venue, which was in a barn and marquee on a farm. They were great at replying to all our questions which was one less thing to worry about when planning a wedding! All our guests really enjoyed them too; their music appeals across all ages and we had lots of comments that it was great to hear something a bit different at a wedding. We wouldn't hesitate to book them for another occasion!”
