Introduction: The Retro Pack are an adaptable 5 to 8 piece band who love performing and who can rapidly make a dance floor seem irresistible to young and old alike. Formed by singer/saxophonist Kit Packham in 1984 to play jazzy R&B with a sense of humour and a twinkle in their eyes they were soon covering Rat Pack Swing Jazz Rhythm & Blues Rock'n'Roll Soul and Vintage Pop. Their material may come from past eras but most of it will be familiar from Hollywood TV and revivals by artists like Michael Buble Jools Holland or Diana Krall. It's worth listening closely to the lyrics though as Kit often slips in a local or topical reference. They recently played for the wedding reception of Joe Craig author of the Jimmy Coates books. Fay Weldon's son Nick played piano with them at the Waldorf Hotel and many rising stars of Britain's jazz scene have also appeared with them. Billy Jenkins Tim Richards Ike Leo Hilary Cameron and Nigel Price have all spent time as members of the band. Mark Lockheart, Karen Sharp, Jo Fooks, Richard Busiakiewicz, Martin France, Paul Robinson, Sam Kelly and Zoltan Dekany have all played occasional gigs with the band.
The Lineup: Kit Packham leads the band on Vocals and Saxophones accompanied by Piano/keyboard, Bass and Drums plus one of the following: Trumpet, Tenor Sax, Guitar, or (Female) Lead Vocal to make the basic 5-piece. For an 8-piece, ALL those musicians will be playing. A variety of 6 or 7-piece line-ups are also easily arranged. You can choose which musicians you'd like or leave it to the band to pick the most suitable ones for your booking.
The Songs: The repertoire has well over 250 numbers and is still growing. There are plenty of slow romantic songs with which a new bride and groom may choose to "open the dancing" and lots of upbeat material to get everyone on the dance floor.

Peter F booked The Retro Pack for their event in Shropshire
“Really great band. 2nd time I've booked them. Kept everyone dancing all night- even those people that don't normally dance! Highly recommended. A mixture of jazz and swing, older and more modern numbers.”

“The Retro Pack were simply great. We had a fantastic garden party both lunch and tea, and the Retro Pack played a really nice wide-ranging repertoire for different parts of the party. Their musicianship is outstanding, they are fun and friendly people. Everybody loved them.”

“I just want to let you know that we had a great party on Saturday. The Retro Pack were fantastic, great musicians and a great repertoire. Everybody loved them. They were also very nice people, the party was in the garden and we had to deal with intermittent rain but they just coped with everything with great good humour. They were really part of the party. We’d certainly engage them again and would strongly recommend them to anyone looking for their kind of music.”

Mike H booked The Retro Pack for their Wedding at Caley Hall Hotel in Norfolk
“The Retro Pack were an absolute pleasure to deal with and most importantly delivered an incredible evening of music and entertainment. Kit was so professional and willing to work with us which gave us a lot of confidence in them from an early stage. Everyone knew exactly where they stood and how the evening was going to go. This is a huge reassurance because once we knew the entertainment was all in hand it allows us to concentrate on the other aspects. In terms of the performance itself, what a night, 3 songs in and a packed dance floor tells you all you need to know about just how good the Retro Pack are. Further to this I’m delighted to say that we have already booked the band for next New Year too, can there be a better recommendation than that!! Mike Caley Hall Hotel ”
The Retro Pack were absolutely fantastic.
Maggie M booked The Retro Pack for their Wedding in Wiltshire
“I would like to thank you and the whole of the Retro Pack who played with you on 7th September for the party after Anna and Pete Douglas’ wedding. You were absolutely fantastic and caught the mood of the guests wonderfully. We all had such a great time and loved dancing the night away. The dance floor was virtually consistently full and age of dancers varied from 8-80 (with the middle range predominant towards the end!). It was the best time I personally have had at a wedding for years – which was lucky as we were the hosts! But thank you very much indeed for rounding of a really special day with so much fun as well as exercise. We would certainly book you again. It was a truly great evening with well-spaced gaps and good music in between. ”
