Set List / Repertoire

Nothing is set in stone – the evening is yours. Just tell us your personal likes and dislikes and supply us with a list of up to 20 of your favourite songs a couple of weeks in advance. We learn new songs every month so we will always be bang up to date. With all of this in mind, a typical wedding dance with wonderland could go something like this -

Welcome – a selection of background music as your evening guests arrive, such as some modern scottish instrumentals by blair douglas, tracks from braveheart and outlander soundtracks, some celtic harp music.

Cut the cake – quite often the cake is cut at the start of the evening reception. We would welcome your guests at this point and invite them to take photos of you. We’d play some rousing scottish music and have everyone on their feet clapping along as you enter the room to cut the cake.

Grand march – popular for weddings in aberdeenshire. This would be co-ordinated with the staff at your venue.

First dance your choice of absolutely any song will be played. If we don’t know it we will learn it for you or play the original version if you’d prefer. Our most popular first dance songs include caledonia / amazed / thinking out loud. Unless you’d like the entire first song just to yourselves we’d invite your top-table guests and partners to join you about one minute into this song, then everyone else slightly later. This may be followed by a father / daughter dance which, again, can be any song of your choice.

Typical first set - proud mary / shut up and dance / mamma mia / i'm on my way / moves like jagger / brown eyed girl / the wonder of you / crazy / human / i’m a believer / black horse & the cherry tree / galway girl / ho hey / first, last, my everything / the only way is up / bohemian like you / sex is on fire

Ceilidh-  some scottish traditional dances, with caller if required. The ceilidh dances are usually spread across the night, 2 or 3 dances at a time. Gay gordons / canadian barn dance / dashing white sergeant / st. Bernard’s waltz / strip the willow / slow waltz (caledonia)

Break for buffet- some easy listening background music by artists such as dean martin, nina simone and michael buble or any playlist you require.
Typical second set - let’s twist again / we found love / stuck in the middle with you / wagon wheel / next to me / white wedding / baker street / come up and see me / uptown funk / i useta love her / dancing queen / perfect / songbird / ten out of ten / baby jane / heart of glass / ring of fire

Break for “disco”-  a selection of floorfillers such as celebration / we are family / happy / budapest / tell me ma / cotton eye joe / the gambler / jump around / sexy and you know it / blurred lines / dance with me tonight. This section could also include some of your own personal requests and any new brand new songs.

Typical final set - don’t stop believing / heaven is a place on earth / get lucky / saturday night at the movies / summer of ’69 / somewhere in my heart / pencil full of lead / take my breath away / disco inferno / need you now / highway to hell / cracklin’ rose / brass in pocket / she sells sanctuary / wake me up / sweet child o’ mine / wonderful tonight / amarillo / 500 miles

Finale around midnight-  “everyone on the dancefloor please –form a big circle around your bride and groom.” Loch lomond / auld lang syne

More disco-  till finish at 12.30 or 1am - just when everyone thinks it’s all over we crank up the disco again with songs such as la bamba / sway / macarena / the time of my life / stand by me plus more of your personal requests.

“We were so so happy about the performance of the professionals, everybody loved them and spoke about them for days after! We had traditional Celtic music to popular charts and everything in between. We had 70 guests from babies to people in their 90's and The Professionals had everyone up and dancing! Thank you so much for being apart of our day. You guys ROCK”

booked The Professionals for their Wedding in Moray

“The professionals clue is in the name, they were absolutely fantastic and worked closely and flexibly with us in our village hall wedding to keep everyone on the dance floor all night. We have had so many compliments on our band since! Everything from start to finish, including communication, song choices, over running wedding meals and small spaces in our hall was not a bother. Highly recommend - worth every penny.”

    Tracked down after nine years!

5 stars - The Professionals are Highly Recommended
booked The Professionals for their Wedding

“We saw The Professionals in a bar in Fort William in October 2009, and were so impressed, had such a great time, that we tracked them down and asked them to play at our wedding 225 miles away in Cumbria in Jan 2018! They were amazing! We had such a blast on the dance floor - best day ever and everyone said what a brilliant time they had at the reception thanks to the band. We really appreciated them playing our playlist and the Scottish dance Strip the Willow was brilliant fun. I'm usually the last to the dance floor but you couldn't keep me away! We wanted the day to be really special and it was, The Professionals contributed hugely to that and although I don't intend to get *married* again, if I have another bash of some sort that needs a band then these guys are first on the guest list.”

The Scottish country dancing segment was great fun and everyone involved worked up a sweat! Thank you so much for making our evening one to remember. Lynn & David Hignett, Dornoch Castle”

booked The Professionals for their event

“On behalf of my wife and I... We just want to thank Steve and Claire for giving us the most wonderful evening of music and entertainment to finish off our perfect day of wedding celebrations. From the moment we got in touch with Steve to enquire about booking the band, they were totally accommodating to everything we asked them to do, right down to learning our favourite song to play for our first dance and including all the songs we requested. We couldn't have hoped for a better wedding band and recommend booking them as soon as possible for your big day. Thanks guys! Patrick & Carol Connor, Kinlochleven”
