Full Biography
Performing music from all corners of Brazil, Ritmos do Brasil are a feel-good band who bring laidback grooves and sunshine to audiences across the UK.
Perfect for creating a classy atmosphere at a range of venue and event types, Ritmos do Brasil deliver passionate and energetic live sets spanning Samba, Bossa Nova, Choro, MPB and Brazilian Jazz.
Most commonly performing as a quartet, the band can also play for more intimate events as a duo or trio, or for larger events as a quintet.
Ritmos do Brasil formed in 2020 by promising graduates of Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Since their launch, the band have performed at venues, festivals, private parties and corporate events across the UK.
Individually, members of Ritmos do Brasil have performed on stages like the Vortex Jazz Bar, Old Street Records, Pizza Express Live jazz clubs, and larger venues including Royal Albert Hall, Cadogan Hall, Barbican Hall, Bridgewater Hall and Birmingham Symphony Hall. Members have also performed across many European cities.
Martina - Flute
Martina’s beautiful flute tone gives Ritmos do Brasil a unique sound. She has toured widely as an orchestral musician, performing in the UK, Czechia, Germany, Austria, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, Slovakia, Portugal, and the USA. After discovering her love of Brazilian grooves, Martina trained in jazz and samba, and brought together stellar musicians to form Ritmos do Brasil.
Mário – Guitar, Vocals
Mário’s evocative vocals and guitar playing make the band one of a kind. He has been musically active since his teens, performing at many venues in his hometown. Later moving to London to study music, Mário has completed his Master’s in jazz performance at one of the world’s leading music universities and now leads his own projects with several bands, from jazz orchestras to world music trios.
Mark – Bass
Mark’s swinging bass lines make the band groove hard. A versatile bassist, Mark plays in a variety of contexts from straight ahead jazz and Brazilian music to jazz fusion. Since moving to London, he has been involved in many different high-end projects. Mark has recently performed at Jazz in the Round as well as the London and Bath Jazz Festivals.
Jakub – Drums, Percussion
Jakub is a London-based Drummer, Producer, Composer and Educator. From an early stage in his music career, he has been involved in various music projects, covering a wide range of genres including jazz, samba, reggae, hip-hop and more. Jakub's influences come across in his playing, a strong groove blended with a sophisticated touch.
